The Oshmans landed on Plymouth Rock earlier this year. We took time out to visit the home of America's first Pilgrims while on our road trip out east. Plymouth (the locals spell it Plimouth to make us outsiders confused) Plantation provides a re-creation of the 17th century English settlement near Plymouth Rock, as well as the nearby homesite of the Wampanoag Natives. After teaching this history in homeschool it was a thrill for all of us to see it in person.
I hope you're all having a fabulous Thanksgiving! I am indeed thankful for so many friends and family across the globe this year! Here are a couple quotes from William Bradford (signer of the Mayflower Compact and author of Plymouth Plantation 1620-1647) and a few pictures to help you get into a festive frame of mind this day!
“All great and honorable actions are accompanied with great difficulties, and both must be enterprised and overcome with answerable courage.”
― William Bradford
“Thus out of small beginnings greater things have been produced by His hand that made all things of nothing, and gives being to all things that are; and, as one small candle may light a thousand, so the light here kindled hath shone unto many...”
― William Bradford, Bradford: Of Plymouth Plantation
